Omegle Alternatives for Adults (18+): Where to Go Now Omegle Is Gone
18+ only. This guide is written for adults, and it covers only adult platforms for users aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, this page is not for you.
The short answer: Omegle is gone, and nothing has replaced it like for like, which is no loss. If what you actually used it for was adult live video, the safer replacement is an age-verified cam platform: Stripchat and BongaCams cost nothing to join, Jerkmate suggests performers based on what you tell it instead of pairing you at random, LiveJasmin is the more private, credit-based option, and FapHouse covers recorded video if live was never the point. Anonymous stranger-matching apps are deliberately not on this list, and the next two sections explain why.
What Happened to Omegle
Omegle was a random chat site founded in 2009 by Leif K-Brooks. Its tagline was "Talk to Strangers!", and it paired people anonymously in text chats and, from a year after launch, in video. On 8 November 2023 K-Brooks announced that it had ceased operations, as NBC News, NPR and CBS News all reported the next day.
His farewell statement did not dodge the reason. NPR quotes him: "There can be no honest accounting of Omegle without acknowledging that some people misused it, including to commit unspeakably heinous crimes." CBS News quotes him saying that fighting that misuse was "no longer sustainable, financially nor psychologically".
The closure came days after Omegle agreed to settle a lawsuit. According to NPR, a young woman identified as A.M. sued in 2021, alleging that in 2014, when she was 11, the site matched her with an adult man who went on to exploit her for years. She sought US$22 million and accused Omegle of product liability: a defectively designed service with inadequate warnings, which, the suit said, did not require users to enter a birthdate. The case was settled on undisclosed terms and dismissed in federal court in Oregon. NPR also reports that K-Brooks said in court documents he had been Omegle's sole employee since it began.
When we loaded omegle.com on 31 October 2026, it no longer served the farewell letter as a plain page; it loads a JavaScript application instead. We did not test it, and nothing on this page recommends it.
Why Random Stranger Video Was the Problem
Omegle's appeal and its danger were the same feature. Anyone could be paired with anyone, instantly, with no account, no verified age and no record of who was on the other end. For an adult that means three risks you cannot manage from your side of the screen:
- You cannot know who you are talking to, including their age. Unverified matching can put an adult in front of a minor, which is harmful and illegal, whatever either person intended.
- You can be recorded. Anything you show a stranger can be captured and used against you. Threatening to publish it unless you pay is sextortion, and how to spot sextortion and romance scams covers how it usually starts.
- Nobody is accountable. Without accounts or moderation in front of every pairing, there is nobody to report to who can act.
That is why this guide covers only adult platforms for users aged 18 and over, where the people on camera are performers who chose to be there and are paid for their time, and it says plainly where we could and could not read a platform's own verification rules.
What a Safe Adult Replacement Looks Like
The useful test is the opposite of Omegle's design. Before you use any live adult platform, check that:
- Users must be 18 or over, stated in the platform's own terms.
- Performers are identity-verified before they broadcast, not after a complaint.
- The platform says how it moderates, and gives you a way to report a room.
- You watch; your camera is not part of it unless you deliberately use a cam-to-cam feature where one exists.
- Pricing is per token, credit or minute and shown before you spend, with automatic top-ups off unless you switch them on.
Each platform below is described only from its own pages as we read them on 31 October 2026, apart from BongaCams, whose pages blocked our tools.
The Age-Verified Alternatives
Stripchat: Free Account, Verified Models
Stripchat is the clearest example of the safe design on paper. Its terms of use (last modified 21 August 2026) say every user must be at least 18, or the age of majority where they live if that is higher. Models must be verified before they can broadcast, through a third-party identity-check provider plus manual moderation, and the terms describe computer-vision tools that flag possibly harmful content to its moderators in real time. Stripchat also states that it voluntarily complies with the US 18 U.S.C. 2257 record-keeping rules.
Creating an account is free. Spending happens in tokens, which the terms say are paid for in advance at prices posted on the site; group and private shows are billed per second or per minute against them, and tips are treated as gifts that are never refunded. Auto-refill exists but is opt-in. The full picture is in our Stripchat review.
BongaCams: Free-to-Watch Public Rooms
BongaCams is a free-to-watch platform built on open public rooms and token tipping, with a large, strongly international roster, as our BongaCams review describes. Its own pages refused our tools on 31 October 2026, so we cannot quote its terms or its verification process here. Read its age and verification rules and its token prices on the site itself before your first purchase.
LiveJasmin: The Private, Credit-Based Option
LiveJasmin is the most private-show-oriented of the four. Its site tells visitors to enter only if they are at least 18, carries an 18 U.S.C. 2257 record-keeping compliance statement, and offers free sign-up. What you buy is credits, not a subscription: its Club Elite page describes a loyalty programme in which every credit spent earns a point. Its terms page did not render for our tools on this pass; what those terms said when we read them on 16 October 2026, including how private shows are charged and when refunds apply, is in Chaturbate vs LiveJasmin, and the platform itself is reviewed in our LiveJasmin review.
Jerkmate: Matched by Preference, Not at Random
Jerkmate is the nearest thing here to Omegle's "show me someone now" feel, without the randomness. Its own FAQ says it asks a few questions about your preferences and then ranks and suggests models, in its words "not random chaos". The account is free, and you can watch public shows and join public chat without paying. It asks for a card at sign-up, which its FAQ says is to verify your age rather than to charge you.
Paid features run on Gold, which its FAQ prices at one US dollar per Gold; private and exclusive shows are charged per minute. The live shows themselves take place on JerkmateLive, the cam platform Jerkmate works with, so do not be surprised when the address changes.
FapHouse: If Live Was Never the Point
Some people who miss Omegle did not want a conversation at all. If what you want is adult video rather than a live person, FapHouse is recorded video on demand. Its own FAQ describes tokens that buy individual videos as one-time charges with no recurring billing, and a membership that its terms (effective 14 September 2026) say renews monthly and can be cancelled at any time. How it compares with other subscriptions is in the best adult subscription platforms.
What About OmeTV, Emerald Chat and Other Stranger-Chat Apps?
They exist, and they fill most "sites like Omegle" lists. We do not review, link or recommend them. They are random-chat services rather than adult cam platforms with verified performers, and anonymous matching between strangers is the design at the centre of Omegle's problems. A different logo on the same design does not change the risk. If what you want is adult live video, use a platform that was built for adults and verifies the people on camera.
Staying Safe Once You Switch
An age-verified platform removes the worst of Omegle's risks, not all of them. Four habits cover the rest:
- Set a budget before you enter a room. Tokens, credits and Gold all make small spends easy to repeat. How cam tokens work explains the currency, and leaving automatic top-ups off is the simplest guard.
- Keep the conversation on the platform. A request to move to another app or to send private photos is the usual opening of a scam.
- Use a dedicated email and a username that is not linked to you, and read are cam sites safe and the viewer privacy and tipping guide before you pay.
- Leave your camera off unless you have decided to use cam-to-cam, and then keep your face and surroundings out of shot.
If what you really miss is conversation rather than a show, an AI companion is a different answer to the same loneliness; AI companion vs cam site explains which one fits what you are actually after.
The Bottom Line
Omegle closed because anonymous stranger matching could not be made safe at the scale it ran, and its founder said as much. For adults, the replacement is not another random-chat app; it is a platform that checks who is on camera. Stripchat and BongaCams cost nothing to join, Jerkmate matches you by preference, LiveJasmin suits private shows, and FapHouse covers recorded video. For the wider field, see the best live cam sites.
Omegle facts from NPR, NBC News and CBS News reports published 9 November 2023. Platform facts from each platform's own pages as read on 31 October 2026 (Stripchat terms last modified 21 August 2026; FapHouse terms effective 14 September 2026); BongaCams' pages were not readable by our tools, and LiveJasmin's terms are as read on 16 October 2026. Terms and prices change without notice; each platform's current pages are the authority. 18+ only.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Omegle still running?
No. Its founder, Leif K-Brooks, announced on 8 November 2023 that Omegle had ceased operations, as NPR, NBC News and CBS News reported the following day. When we loaded omegle.com on 31 October 2026 it no longer served his farewell letter as a plain page; it loads a JavaScript app instead, which we did not test and do not recommend.
What is the best Omegle alternative for adults?
For adults who used Omegle for adult live video, the safer replacement is an age-verified cam platform rather than another stranger-matching app. Stripchat and BongaCams cost nothing to join, Jerkmate suggests performers based on preferences you give it instead of pairing you at random, and LiveJasmin is the more private, credit-based option. If you only want recorded video, FapHouse sells that by membership or by single video.
Are apps like OmeTV or Emerald Chat a safe replacement?
We do not review, link or recommend them. They are random-chat services rather than adult cam platforms with verified performers, and anonymous matching between strangers is the design at the centre of Omegle's problems. If what you want is adult live video, use a platform built for adults that verifies the people on camera.
Are cam sites free to use?
Joining usually is. Stripchat and Jerkmate offer free accounts, Jerkmate's FAQ says public shows and public chat cost nothing, and BongaCams is free to watch according to our review of it. You pay when you want more: Stripchat sells tokens, LiveJasmin sells credits and Jerkmate sells Gold, which its FAQ prices at one US dollar per Gold. Private shows are charged by time on all of them, so set a budget before you start.
